Background
Recombinant Human Transforming Growth Factor Beta-2 (TGF beta-2) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a critical role in cardiac development, cell proliferation, and differentiation. It is widely used in the expansion and maintenance of pluripotent human embryonic stem cells (hESCs), making it essential for stem cell research, regenerative medicine, and cell and gene therapy (CGT) workflows. HumanKine TGF beta-2 is expressed in HEK293 human cells, ensuring authentic human post-translational modifications (PTMs) that enhance protein folding, stability, and biological activity compared to non-mammalian expression systems. This results in improved performance in sensitive applications such as stem cell culture and translational research.TGF beta-2 functions by binding to type I and type II TGF beta receptors, activating downstream SMAD signaling pathways that regulate gene expression, maintain pluripotency, and control cell fate decisions.
