背景介绍
Peptidylprolyl isomerase-like 6 (PPIL6) is a member of the cyclophilin (peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase, PPIase) family, proteins that typically catalyze proline residue isomerization and contribute to protein folding and conformational regulation. However, PPIL6 is considered a divergent or atypical cyclophilin, as current evidence suggests it may have limited or altered enzymatic activity compared with canonical PPIases. In humans, PPIL6 expression appears to be enriched in testis, particularly associated with spermatogenic cells, indicating a potential role in male germ cell development and spermatogenesis. Although its precise molecular function remains poorly defined, PPIL6 has been proposed to participate in protein complex assembly or regulatory processes during germ cell differentiation. To date, there is no well-established signaling pathway or interaction network for PPIL6. Research interest in PPIL6 is mainly within reproductive biology, functional genomics, and protein evolution, with limited direct evidence linking it to specific diseases.
