PIK3C2A, also known as PI3K-C2alpha, is a member of phosphatidylinositol -4- phosphate 3- kinase (PI3K) family. Genes in this family play a key role in cell signal transduction. The main function of PIK3C2A is to participate in the metabolism of phosphatidylinositol in cells, specifically, it is responsible for converting phosphatidylinositol -4- phosphate (PIP) into phosphatidylinositol -3,4- diphosphate (PIP2).
