MEX3A is a member of the MEX3 family, which widely exists in mammalian cells and encodes four different genes, MEX3A, MEX3B, MEX3C, and MEX3D. The MEX3 protein of mammals is composed of two RNA-binding KH domains and a ring domain with E3 ubiquitin ligase activity at the C terminal. The ring finger domain endows human MEX3 protein the ability to regulate ubiquitination of target proteins and then influencing their protein stability and subcellular localization.MEX3A plays complex and diverse roles in the development of various cancers. MEX3A plays a pivotal role in the post-transcriptional procession of mRNA and gene expression. MEX3A gene expression may be closely connected with malignant tumor development and progression.
