背景介绍
EPHB4 (Ephrin type-B receptor 4), a member of the largest family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTK), is overexpressed in several tumor types, including prostate, breast, and bladder tumors and down-regulation of EPHB4 in tumor cell lines of these origins results in reduced cell viability, migration, and invasion. In endothelial cells, where EphB4 is normally expressed, it regulates cell migration, proliferation, and invasion (PMID: 15930280). The discovery of EphB4 as an alternative Epo receptor has multiple clinical implications including opportunities for patient stratification and anti-EphB4 approaches to abrogate the stimulatory effects of Epo on tumor growth (PMID: 16982731, 16424904).
