Human DEFB132 (Defensin Beta 132) is a member of the beta-defensin family and functions as a secreted antimicrobial peptide. This protein is highly expressed in epididymal epithelial cells and sperm, regulated by the androgen receptor signaling pathway, and serves as a key effector molecule of innate immunity in the male reproductive tract. DEFB132 exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, inhibiting both Gram-negative bacteria such as *Escherichia coli* and Gram-positive bacteria such as *Staphylococcus aureus*, exerting its bactericidal function by disrupting the cell membranes of pathogens. As an inducible immune effector molecule, it plays multiple biological roles in host defense, reproductive health, and metabolic homeostasis.
