Background
Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 (FGF-7), also known as Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF), is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor that binds selectively to receptors expressed on epithelial cells. It plays a critical role in tissue repair, epithelial cell proliferation, and differentiation, making it highly relevant for regenerative medicine and advanced cell culture systems. FGF-7 is widely used in epithelial stem cell maintenance, as well as in the development of bladder and lung organoids. In addition, it is a key growth factor in protocols for the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into pancreatic endocrine progenitor cells, a promising approach for treating Type 1 Diabetes. Due to its epithelial specificity and biological activity, FGF-7 is an essential component in organoid culture, stem cell differentiation, and cell therapy workflows. HumanKine FGF-7 is expressed in HEK293 human cells, ensuring authentic human post-translational modifications (PTMs) that enhance protein folding, stability, and bioactivity compared to non-mammalian expression systems. Manufactured under ISO 13485-compliant conditions, HumanKine GMP FGF-7 is animal-component free, xeno-free, and endotoxin-controlled, ensuring suitability as an ancillary material in clinical manufacturing processes (PMID: 37875848; 39236699; 15327889).
