背景介绍
BUP1(Beta-ureidopropionase) is also named as BUP1, Beta-alanine synthase, N-carbamoyl-beta-alanine amidohydrolase and belongs to the CN hydrolase family. It catalyzes the last step in the pyrimidine degradation pathway that it converts N-carbamyl-beta-aminoisobutyric acid and N-carbamyl-beta-alanine to, respectively, beta-aminoisobutyric acid and beta-alanine, ammonia and carbon dioxide. It is a protein with a calculated molecular mass of 43 kDa. It can also exist in the form of homodimer, homotetramer, homooctamer, and higher homooligomers. (PMID: 29976570)
