SCNM1 is located at chromosome 1p21 which may contribute to human inherited dystonia. SCNM1 determines the proportion of correctly spliced transcripts and hence disease severity. It plays a role in RNA splicing, possibly contributing to the recognition of non-consensus donor sites.
