背景介绍
PRTFDC1 (phosphoribosyl transferase domain containing 1) is a homolog of the enzyme hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) but has very low catalytic activity due to a critical amino acid substitution in its active site. Functionally, PRTFDC1 is suggested to act as a tumor suppressor ; its epigenetic silencing by promoter hypermethylation has been observed in oral squamous cell carcinomas, and its restoration can inhibit cell growth.
