OR9Q1 is a class A olfactory GPCR expressed in olfactory sensory neurons, where it contributes to odor detection through cAMP-mediated signaling. As part of the extensive olfactory receptor repertoire, OR9Q1 participates in the combinatorial encoding of odorant stimuli, supporting sensory discrimination of volatile chemicals. Although specific ligands and disease associations remain largely undefined, genetic variation in OR genes-including OR9Q1-contributes to individual diversity in olfactory perception.
