Product Information
KE10156 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The mouse CD138/Syndecan-1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous mouse CD138/Syndecan-1. The assay recognizes mouse CD138/Syndecan-1. An antibody specific for mouse CD138/Syndecan-1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The mouse CD138/Syndecan-1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for mouse CD138/Syndecan-1 is added to detect the captured mouse CD138/Syndecan-1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
CD138 (syndecan-1, Sdc-1) is a member of the syndecan family that comprises heparan sulfate proteoglycans. It is predominantly expressed by epithelial cells and plasmacytes, which are involved in leucocyte recruitment, generation of chemokine gradient, and extracellular matrix remodeling during restoration of normal structure and function of injured tissues. Soluble CD138, through its connection with angiogenic factors, boosts angiogenesis in pro-metastatic tumor niches and its presence is essential for the proangiogenic action of integrins αvß3 and αvß5.
