背景介绍

MPEG1 (macrophage-expressed gene 1), also known as perforin-2, is a pore-forming protein of the membrane attack complex/perforin (MACPF) superfamily. Predominantly expressed in macrophages and leukocytes, it is upregulated by proinflammatory signals such as TNF-α and LPS. MPEG1 localizes to phagosomes and lysosomes, where it breaches bacterial membranes to facilitate antimicrobial defense and antigen cross-presentation. (PMID: 26402460)
