背景介绍
MMP16(Matrix metalloproteinase-16) is also named as MMPX2,MT3-MMP.It is an endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as collagen type III and fibronectin.Northern blotting shows MMP16 is expressed as a 12-kb transcript in brain, placenta, heart, and some carcinoma cell lines, but is not detectably expressed in lung, kidney, liver, spleen, and muscle(PMID:7559440).And MMP16 is encountered in endothelial cells of proliferative endometrium in vivo(PMID;15531549).
