Product Information
KE00700 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Serpin F1/PEDF ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Serpin F1/PEDF. The assay recognizes human Serpin F1/PEDF. An antibody specific for human Serpin F1/PEDF has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Serpin F1/PEDF protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human Serpin F1/PEDF is added to detect the captured human Serpin F1/PEDF protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Serpin F1, also known as Pigment Epithelium-Derived Factor (PEDF) or Cell Proliferation-Inducing Gene 35 Protein (PIG35), is a multifunctional protein that belongs to the serpin family. This family of proteins is characterized by their highly conserved core structure, which is critical for their function as serine protease inhibitors. Serpin F1 is secreted and has been shown to strongly inhibit angiogenesis, making it a potent inhibitor of blood vessel growth. It also has anti-tumor and neurotrophic functions, playing a significant role in various biological processes including cell differentiation, tumor suppression, and neuronal protection. Serpin F1 is expressed in quiescent cells and has been implicated in the regulation of gene expression and cellular proliferation.
