Product Information

KE00668 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human IL-1R2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human IL-1R2. The assay recognizes human IL-1R2. An antibody specific for human IL-1R2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human IL-1R2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human IL-1R2 is added to detect the captured human IL-1R2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Interleukin-1 receptor type 2 (IL-1R2, also known as CD121b) is a receptor for the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1α and IL-1β. It plays a crucial role in the negative regulation of the IL-1 signaling pathway, which is involved in inflammation and immune responses. IL-1R2 also regulates IL-1 maturation and cell activation, promotes cell survival, and participates in IL-1-dependent internalization. Soluble IL-1R2 (sIL-1R2) acts as a decoy receptor by binding to IL-1α and IL-1β, preventing their interaction with IL-1R1 and IL-1RAP. This inhibits the activation of the IL-1 signaling pathway, thereby reducing inflammation.
