KE00583 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human IGFBP6 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human IGFBP6. The assay recognizes human IGFBP6. An antibody specific for human IGFBP6 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human IGFBP6 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human IGFBP6 is added to detect the captured human IGFBP6 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
IGFBP6 is known for its identical protein binding activity and insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) binding activity. It plays a role in cell migration and positively regulates the stress-activated MAPK cascade. As a component of the insulin-like growth factor binary complex, IGFBP6 helps modulate the availability and activity of IGFs in the body. IGFBP6 has been implicated in obesity and serves as a biomarker for several conditions, including breast cancer, in situ carcinoma, leiomyoma, and neovascular inflammatory vitreoretinopathy. Research has shown that IGFBP6 can influence tumor progression and response to treatment in various cancer types, such as glioblastoma, ovarian cancer, and prostate cancer.
