Product Information

KE00245 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human Fas Ligand/CD178 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human Fas Ligand/CD178. The assay recognizes human Fas Ligand/CD178. An antibody specific for human Fas Ligand/CD178 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human Fas Ligand/CD178 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human Fas Ligand/CD178 is added to detect the captured human Fas Ligand/CD178 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CD178, also known as Fas ligand, is a type II transmembrane protein that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. It is expressed on NK cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes and activated CD4+ Th1 cells. CD178 transduces apoptotic signal into cells by binding to FAS/CD95. It is involved as a death factor in the regulation of activation-induced cell death, establishment of immune privilege and tumor cell survival.
