Product Information
KE00871 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD80/B7-1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD80/B7-1. The assay recognizes human CD80/B7-1. An antibody specific for human CD80/B7-1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD80/B7-1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD80/B7-1 is added to detect the captured human CD80/B7-1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
CD80, also known as B7-1, is a type I membrane protein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It plays a crucial role in T cell activation and regulation by providing a co-stimulatory signal necessary for T cell proliferation and cytokine production. CD80 interacts with CD28 on T cells to promote T cell activation and with CTLA-4 to inhibit T cell activation. This dual role highlights its importance in modulating immune responses. Additionally, CD80 acts as a receptor for adenovirus subgroup B, indicating its involvement in viral infections.
