Product Information

KE00866 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD44 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD44. The assay recognizes human CD44. An antibody specific for human CD44 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD44 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD44 is added to detect the captured human CD44 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CD44, a transmembrane cell surface glycoprotein, is normally expressed in all human cells. It is primarily involved in regulating cell adhesion, migration, angiogenesis, proliferation, and inflammation. It may take part in the process of tumorigenesis as CD44 and its variants have a potential role in the development of malignant tumors. CD44 has gained significant attention because of its usefulness as a stem cell marker and has surfaced as a budding therapeutic target, imposing a greater understanding of CD44 in various cancers. Additionally, Serum CD44 concentration correlated with tumor burden and metastasis of tumors.
