Product Information

KE00379 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD141/Thrombomodulin ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD141/Thrombomodulin. The assay recognizes human CD141/Thrombomodulin. An antibody specific for human CD141/Thrombomodulin has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD141/Thrombomodulin protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD141/Thrombomodulin is added to detect the captured human CD141/Thrombomodulin protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Thrombomodulin (THBD, also known as CD141) is an endothelial-specific type I membrane glycoprotein of 105 kDa that binds thrombin, which plays an important role as a natural anticoagulant. It is expressed mostly on the surface of vascular endothelial cells, where it probably be involved in cell differentiation or inflammation. Soluble forms of CD141 have been found in plasma and urine. It has been reported that plasma CD141 is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus, particularly those with diabetic nephropathy.
