背景信息
Serum Amyloid P component (SAP) is a 25 kDa pentameric protein that plays a crucial role in the humoral arm of innate immunity, involved in resistance to bacterial infection and regulation of inflammation. It is an acute-phase reactant, meaning its levels increase in response to inflammation or infection. SAP is also a key component of amyloid deposits in various amyloidosis disorders, making it a potential therapeutic target for these conditions. Additionally, SAP has been shown to bind to Fcγ receptors and opsonize particles for phagocytosis, highlighting its role in immune defense mechanisms.
