背景信息
ACAN, or Aggrecan, is a key component of the extracellular matrix in cartilaginous tissues. Acan is present in cartilage, intervertebral disc, brain, heart, and aorta (PMID: 35385326). Its core protein contains three glubular domains and two glycosaminoglycan-attachment domains. These domains play various roles to maintain cartilage structure and function.
