背景介绍
Beta-hexosaminidase subunit alpha (HEXA) is involved in catalysis of degradation of the ganglioside GM2. Disfunction of beta-hexosaminidase leads to an accumulation of GM2 ganglioside in neurons and neurodegenerative disorders termed the GM2 gangliosidoses. The enzyme is composed of two subunits, alpha and beta. This gene encodes alpha subunit of beta-hexosaminidase. Western blot with this antibody raised against HEXA detected 60 kDa (precursor) and 54 kDa (mature) size bands (PMID: 27682588, PMID: 30341570).
