背景介绍

CENPS-CORT is a centromeric protein complex composed of core subunits such as CENPS and CENPT, playing a critical role in chromosome biology. This complex localizes to the centromere region and directly participates in the assembly and maintenance of the centromere-kinetochore structure, ensuring accurate chromosome segregation during both mitosis and meiosis. Its functions primarily include promoting nucleosome assembly at the centromere, maintaining the three-dimensional structural integrity of the centromere, and ensuring the fidelity of chromosome separation by regulating microtubule-kinetochore attachments. Studies have shown that dysfunction of the CENPS-CORT complex disrupts the accuracy of chromosome segregation, leading to chromosomal numerical abnormalities such as aneuploidy, which is closely associated with tumorigenesis and reproductive disorders. It is therefore an important subject in research on cell cycle regulation and genomic stability.
