CCDC59 (Coiled-Coil Domain Containing 59), also known as TAP26 (Thyroid transcription factor 1-associated protein 26), is a core, essential protein heavily involved in cellular RNA-handling and protein metabolism. It forms a component of the transcription complexes that direct the production of pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins B (SFTPB) and C (SFTPC), which are vital for maintaining surface tension in lung alveoli. CCDC59 is primarily localized within the nucleoplasm and nucleolus, while minor distributions can be found in the cytoplasm and plasma membrane.
