ARL6IP4 is recognized to be a binding protein of ARL6 that is another member in the Ras family,implicating a possibility of mediating Ras signaling. ARL6 gene mutation has been linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome type 3 which is a multisystemic disorder characterized by defects in themicrotubule-based transport process.
