背景介绍
Agouti-related peptide (AGRP) is a potent orexigenic neuropeptide synthesis-restricted to the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus. Functioning as an endogenous competitive antagonist of melanocortin receptors (MC3R and MC4R), it downregulates satiety pathways. Consequently, AGRP acts as a master regulator that drives hyperphagia, curtails energy expenditure, and maintains systemic metabolic homeostasis under caloric deficits.
