背景信息
BLIMP1/PRDM1 belongs to the PR/SET structural domain protein family and is a DNA-binding transcriptional repressor. PRDM1 has histone deacetylase binding activity and specifically binds promoter chromatin. PRDM1 acts as a deterrent to beta-interferon gene expression and binds specifically to the PRDI element in the promoter of the beta-interferon gene. BLIMP1/PRDM1 is widely expressed in multiple cell types including B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, mammary luminal progenitor cells and skin epithelial cells. PRDM1 is involved in the differentiation of B cells and is expressed in activated CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, regulating the homeostasis of activated T cells.
