背景信息
SIGLEC5, also known as sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin 5, is a member of the Siglec family, which are a group of immunoglobulin-type lectins that mediate protein-carbohydrate interactions via sialic acids attached to glycoproteins or glycolipids. SIGLEC5 is part of the CD33-related subset of Siglecs (CD33rSiglecs) and inhibits the activation of several cell types, including monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. In addition, SIGLEC5 mediates sialic acid-dependent binding to human erythrocytes and soluble glycoconjugates, indicating its potential involvement in cell-cell interactions.
