背景信息
Leptin is a protein hormone predominantly produced by adipocytes, with key roles in regulating appetite, energy balance, and neuroendocrine function. It signals to the brain, particularly the hypothalamus, to control feeding behavior and energy expenditure. Leptin levels rise after eating, indicating high energy reserves and reducing appetite, while they drop during fasting, stimulating hunger. Additionally, Leptin influences immune function by modulating inflammatory cytokine production and contributing to metabolic homeostasis. Abnormalities in Leptin levels are associated with conditions such as obesity, malnutrition, cardiovascular events, and infertility.
