LYZ(Lysozyme) is also named as LZM and belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 22 family, and is a well-known antimicrobial peptide that exists widely in mammalian skin. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of the bacterial cell wall beta(1-4) glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine. Lysozyme (LYZ) is an integral component of the innate immune system and is known for its antibacterial properties. It is produced by various cell types, with higher expression observed in mucus and saliva.
