背景信息
DSG3 (Desmoglein 3) is a member of the calcineurin superfamily. DSG3 is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein preferentially found in bridge grains of squamous epithelial keratinocytes. Both deletion and up-regulation of DSG3 have been associated with cancer progression. DSG3 is primarily involved in the formation of intercellular junctions, particularly cell-cell junctions, between epithelial, cardiomyocyte and other cell types. DSG3 is also involved in cell signaling pathways that control proliferation, differentiation and migration of keratinocytes. (PMID: 36375372) DSG3 is clinically associated with autoimmune blistering skin diseases.
