Background Information
PPBP, also known as CXCL7, is expressed by multiple cells, including platelets, neutrophils, natural killer cells, lymphocytes, and megakaryocytes. It has been found that CXCL7 regulates various processes, including glucose metabolism, mitogenesis, extracellular matrix and plasminogen activator synthesis. Proteomic analysis of serum extracellular vesicles showed that PPBP could represent a potential biomarker of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C.
